You’ve just found the perfect stock photo image to use in your next online posting. You buy it, download it and go to upload it to WordPress but it doesn’t seem to want to upload. You get an error: “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”
Security reasons?! That’s odd. Why would that be?
What you’re more than likely trying to upload is a high-resolution vector graphic and not a graphic really all that suitable for the web. The image format you’re probably working with is a .ai, or a .eps.
Some stock photo companies will also include a high-resolution jpg alongside the .ai so have a look for that. But if there is no jpg image included then you’ll have to make one. For that you’ll need Photoshop or Gimp. Open the file and then Save As a jpg or .png file that’s suitable for the web.
Upload and continue on with your day.
